Genext TV is on sports overload this month, as we are now smack dab in the middle of the NBA finals, the Stanley Cup finals, U.S. Open and the heart of the baseball season. And that isn't counting the biggest sporting event of them all (or even combined)! With Genext TV, receive the entire World Cup Experience, brought to you in high definition on ESPN HD (606) and ABC HD (104). For the first time, all 64 FIFA World Cup matches will be available in high definition. Call Genext today to get hooked up with Digital HD; and watch the games in a whole new light.
You might wonder why the World Cup is so big. Maybe it's because it only happens every four years or perhaps the fact that soccer is the universal sport around the globe. It's played nearly everywhere and more than one billion viewers in over 200 countries are expected to watch the month long tournament. Soccer is just recently gaining credit in the U.S. as the Men's National Soccer Team has made great strides in last few years reaching the quarterfinal round in the 2002 World Cup tournament and a current ranking of 5th, the highest ever in history.
ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC Sports will present live coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Friday, June 9 through Sunday, July 9 from Germany. And ABC Sports will broadcast the title match Sunday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. from Berlin's Olympiastadion. The high definition telecasts will be offered as a simulcast of ESPN, ABC Sports and ESPN2's World Cup coverage.
While the U.S. team already has a loss and tie in the beginning round of play, it really is anyone's game at this point. They still have a chance of being one of two teams (in their bracket) advancing to the second round of play. Make sure to catch the U.S. team's game versus Ghana: Thursday, 6/22: ESPN/ESPN HD at 9:55 a.m.
