Burglary Season: Time To Think About a Genext Security
System
It's that time of year...the weather is scorching, kids are on summer break and many
of us are finding time to skip town! While this time of year is great for vacationing,
July and August are also the most targeted months for burglaries. If you'll be away
this summer, it is wise to be prepared before packing up and hitting the road.
Unfortunately, Security is no longer a simple matter of locks and keys. There are
other steps to think about to ensure peace of mind and safety. The best way to protect
your home is with a professional Security System and 24 Hour Monitoring Service. Genext
offers technologically advanced security solutions enhancing your home's security
system and giving you ultimate control of your safety and security. To learn more
about what we can do for you, call Genext and ask to speak with one of our Systems
Representatives. If this is not in your plans for this summer, here are a few tips
to keep in mind.
Before you go, make sure and check every door and window in the house...don't forget
about gates, garages and sheds. As well, close shades so that potential burglars can't
go "window shopping," that is, to peek inside and see your laptop, the silver
candlesticks on the mantel or the camera you left on the dining room table. Valuable
items should be locked up or removed from the premises while you're gone.
If you can, put lights on timers. A porch light that burns constantly is a dead giveaway
that no one is at home. Lights should turn on and off in various parts of the house
at different times. A radio on a timer is another way to give the illusion someone
is at home. Motion-detector lights are another good idea. Someone outside won't know
whether they've been turned on automatically or by someone inside.
Stop by the post office and have them hold your mail, or arrange for a friend to
pick it up daily. As well, if it's trash-pickup day, arrange for someone to roll your
garbage cans back into your yard. Lastly, disable your automatic garage door opener
by unplugging it, this will lock the door. (Some garage doors also have a bolt you
can throw from inside so they can't be opened manually from outside.)
And if you do have a Security System, let us know you'll be away; we'll collect
a cell phone number so you can be reached in case of emergency. Don't forget to activate
the system before you leave!
The top ten items burglars are most interested in stealing (according to the Burglary
Prevention Council).
Televisions
Computers (especially laptops) and printers
DVD players and DVD's
Stereo equipment
Weapons
Jewelry and watches
Tools
Cameras
Credit cards
Sports equipment (such as golf clubs)

How To Benefit From Your SPAM Filter
Do you know that roughly 80% of email traffic is considered SPAM? That's a lot of
unwanted email! Luckily Genext has provides superior E-Mail Security Service that
protects you and your computer from unsolicited and potentially hazardous email. As
well, current Legislation is attempting to better regulate and safeguard you from
SPAM.
Genext provides Email Security Service to all Broadband customers for Free and to
Dialup customers for an additional $1.50 per month. But do you know how to effectively
use and benefit from your Genext SPAM filter?
Since we introduced our SPAM Filtering Service we have blocked over 111,000,000 pieces
of unwanted mail. And just yesterday, one single day, over 251,000 pieces of SPAM
were blocked from our customers email boxes! On average, over 165,000 messages are
blocked. Though it may appear that a large amount of SPAM is still being delivered,
the number of messages you receive would be exponentially greater without the SPAM
Filter in place.
Here is a brief explanation of the SPAM filter process so that you can better benefit
from this Filtering Service. When an email is sent to your Genext account, prior to
delivery to your mailbox, it passes through an anti-spam server. There, we will analyze
the message based on content and prioritize your messages to ensure quick delivery
of safe email. The SPAM filter will mark questionable SPAM emails with an "[S]".
This quarantines these messages aside so you can view them when it is convenient for
you, using the SPAM user interface.
The SPAM user interface allows you the versatility to deliver "safe"
messages to your normal mailbox, removing them from the SPAM filter. As well, as Whitelist
safe senders (those you know not to be spammers), by doing this all-future messages
from this sender will pass through unfiltered. You can also delete or remove messages
from unknown and questionable sources. The Blacklist allows you to always deny messages
from specific senders.
Most importantly, you can adjust the filtering options of your SPAM user interface,
under the Quarantine Settings Tab. Here you can adjust the frequency of notifications
of new messages in your quarantine mailbox, change the email address that notifications
are mailed to, and to select the language that you would like to receive notifications
in. Adjust the settings to your satisfaction and hit the "Save Changes"
button to make the changes take effect.
The Genext SPAM filter is a powerful tool, if used correctly. It will protect you
from viruses and unwelcome email as well as make sure to safely deliver the email
you want. If you have any questions about how to use or alter your filter to best
fit your needs please give us a call.

goal of reaching 90% of the County, over 40,000 premises by 2012, currently shifting
focus to rural areas such as Entiat Valley, Blewett Pass and Lake Wenatchee.
With fiber at your home you can connect to Services such as Internet, TV and Voice

home. A recent study found it adds over $4,000 to your homes value and many local
Real Estate professionals are telling us that homeowners base their buying location
on where fiber is available.
Unfortunately, many residents are not well informed of the full potential of fiber,
and what it brings to our community. Soak in this fact... Fiber is the fastest information
exchange in the Country. Yes, the fastest...meaning there is no other Internet connection
faster than fiber. Lots of companies claim fast Internet but only fiber can deliver.
Send large files faster; download music instantly and with fiber your connection is
always on.
And the community is benefiting from fiber; more than 40 jobs have been created by
the 13 service providers, we have access to world-class education, telemedicine and
many companies are bringing business to the Valley because of our technological capabilities.
Call today and find out more about fiber, if it is available and how to get signed
