Home Show Season

Whether you are moving into a new home or looking to spruce up an existing one, the upcoming North Central Home Builder's Association Home Show is sure to have something to gain your interest. And yet another reason...Genext is once again a main exhibitor! The annual event will begin on Friday, February 8th and conclude on Sunday afternoon. We are excited for the opportunity to showcase our technology.

You can't miss our new booth display (right at the bottom of the stairs). We'll be showcasing the latest home theater technology together with Genext TV in HD, Structured Wiring Centers and of course our bundled services.

There will be many exhibitors at the Event with information about various home projects and ideas including landscaping, customer cabinetry, flooring, home interior solutions, restoration services, decking/patio ideas and more. As well, there will be a series of seminars including a Kids Zone and an all out Construction war to make the ultimate playhouse.

Make sure to come check us out at this premier event. Remember, we will be setup downstairs by the elevators, in the main hallway. Please plan on dropping by as it is always great for us to meet our customers face to face as well as speak directly with potential customers looking for exceptional service from a local company.

The NFL Battle Has Been Lost

While we find ourselves once again in the midst of every football lover's favorite time of year, playoff season, a power struggle between the football fans ultimate channel has continued to emerge since this time last year. We continue to learn more and more about the TV industry and it has become apparent that sports programming contains some of the highest costs. The NFL Network has been seeking to make all cable companies carry the channel to all of our subscribers, whether they want the channel or not. This request is technically and, most importantly, financially challenging.

The American Cable Association, the voice of the nation's independent cable operators, has been pushing the NFL, demanding reasonable treatment for all cable systems, big and small. Last year they launched SportsChoiceNow.org, a website providing a direct link for visitors to contact the Hill and tell their reps that they want the channel on a sports tier and that they don't want to be forced to pay for it.

Well, we've lost the battle. Genext received notice from an attorney with NFL Network indicating that their Vice President is aware that we have made our best efforts to roll out NFL on our Expanded Basic service level, which is the penetration benchmark set forth in our Agreement. They recognize that we share a headend with other cable operators and that due to them not carrying the NFL Network and distributing it on Expanded Basic service, that Genext, as a result cannot do so either.

Though they indicated that it appears we are not responsible for the dilemma, we have failed to meet the benchmark and therefore, NFL Network cannot "permit this perilous business situation to continue." The notice goes on to say that they regret that they have to take this action. We have done all we can. Several months ago, we made NFL programming available to all Digital subscribers. Apparently, our good faith efforts were not good enough. As of mid-January, our Agreement will be considered terminated. We regret that we were unable to resolve this matter and continue to provide the programming to all you fans out there. If you have any further questions about this issue, feel free to contact us for more information.
